A fire broke out following a drone attack on an oil port in southern Russia.
A drone attack caused an oil refinery in an oil port in Russia's Krasnodar Krai to catch fire, according to the Krasnodar Krai Operational Headquarters. Meanwhile the Operational Headquarters reported that falling debris from an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) ignited the blaze. Emergency crews and specialized services were dispatched to the scene.
The targeted facility was the Albashneft "mini-refinery" in Novominskaya, a village in Krasnodar Krai that lies roughly 150 miles (250 kilometers) from the front line in Ukraine. Authorities said flames engulfed one of the tanks at the facility and burned an adjacent area of about 150 square meters. Thirty-nine firefighters were deployed to extinguish the blaze. There have been no reported casualties.
Russian authorities reported that the fire resulting from the attack had been extinguished by approximately 8 a.m. local time. Russia’s Interior Ministry stated that its air defenses had intercepted 97 Ukrainian drones across several regions overnight. The ministry reported that 40 drones were shot down. At the time of publication, the Kyiv Independent could not verify the claims of the Russian officials. While deep strikes against military and industrial facilities in Russia and Russian-occupied territories have been routinely launched by Ukraine, often using domestically developed drones. Krasnodar Krai, located across the Kerch Strait from the Russian-occupied Crimean Peninsula, has frequently been the target of Ukrainian attacks.

The Albashneft facility in Novominskaya was reportedly hit in an attack in February 2025. The Albashneft "mini-refinery" (LLC Albashneft) is a small oil processing plant and storage depot located in Novominskaya, Krasnodar Krai, Russia, approximately 250 km from the Ukrainian border. It specializes in refining and supplying diesel and gasoline to the Russian military, and it was targeted by suspected Ukrainian drone or missile strikes in early 2025 and again in early 2026, causing significant fires
Russian oil assets are considered legitimate military targets by Ukrainian forces. These facilities supply the Russian army, and profits from fossil fuel exports continue to fund the Kremlin's war chest.
