Stena RoRo has entered into a five-year charter agreement with Marine Atlantic Inc. for the vessel A Nepita, formerly Superfast X, with entry into service planned for fall 2026, according to Stena RoRo. The ship will undergo a period of customization for the intended trade, including ship-to-shore ramp arrangements, vessel livery and a five-year preventive maintenance program.

A Nepita is currently chartered to French operator Corsica Linea and is trading in the Mediterranean Sea. The vessel is ice-class rated, equipped with three bow thrusters and one stern thruster, and is designed to transport passengers and commercial vehicles. A Nepita has an overall length of 203.24 meters, a width of 25.7 meters, capacity for about 1,200 passengers and 1,920 cargo lane meters, an Ice Class 1A rating, a speed of about 22 knots, and was built in 2002

It is noteworthy that on 19 November,2025 Stena RoRo has taken delivery of STENA CONNECTA,(IMO 1033133, MMSI 212362000-sailing under the flag of Cyprus. ) the second of two NewMax RoRo vessels built for Stena Line’s Belfast–Heysham route.Constructed at CMI Jinling Weihai, the vessel now proceeds to final preparations and is expected to enter regular service in January 2026.The first vessel in the series, STENA FUTURA, entered service on 22 September.
The two dual fuel methanol/battery-hybrid newbuilds represent a 40% increase in capacity on the route once both are in service, replacing the previous tonnage.
STENA CONNECTA is fitted with two 28×4 metre Norsepower Rotor Sails™ capable of reducing fuel consumption by up to 9% on the Irish Sea crossing. Its sister vessel, STENA FUTURA, was delivered “Rotor Sail Ready,” allowing the operator to retrofit sails as operational needs evolve.
Since 1977, Stena RoRo has led development of new marine RoRo cargo and RoRo passenger concepts. We provide custom-built vessels, as well as standardized RoRo and RoPax vessels. The company leases about fifteen vessels to operators worldwide, both other Stena companies and third parties. Stena RoRo specializes above all in using its technical expertise for the design and production of new vessels and the conversion and technical operation of existing vessels in order to deliver tailor-made transport solutions to its customers. We call this “Stenability”. Since 2016 Stena RoRo has taken delivery of 12 RoPax ships of the E-Flexer class and 2 roro ships of the NewMax class. Since 2013, we have had responsibility for the design and completion of the world´s largest civilian hospital vessel, owned and operated by Mercy Ships, the Global Mercy. The ship was delivered in 2021.

Marine Atlantic serves two routes. The first is a year-round, 96 nautical mile daily ferry service between Port aux Basques, Newfoundland and North Sydney, Nova Scotia. The second, offered from mid-June until late September, is a 280 nautical mile ferry service between Argentia, Newfoundland and North Sydney, Nova Scotia.
