The ceremonial presentation and christening of the “Jantar Unity” – the most modern ferry built entirely in Polish shipyards – took place in Szczecin. The vessel will begin regular sailings from Świnoujście to Trelleborg, Sweden, today on January 20, 2026. In the future, the Jantar Unity (IMO 9989895, MMSI 212868000)will sail to Ystad. Construction of another Ro-Bax vessel for POLSCA is underway at the Remontowa shipyard in Gdańsk. The vessel is expected to join the POLSCA fleet in 2026.
The Jantar Unity Ro-Pax was built by Remontowa Shiprepair Yard for the Polish shipowner POLSCA Baltic Ferries, a joint venture of Polish shipowners Unity Line and Polsteam (PŻM).
The Ro-Pax vessel, built by the Remontowa Shiprepair Yard, features an eco-friendly propulsion system. Four engines are powered by an LNG (liquefied natural gas) system. The ferry’s propulsion is supported by a hybrid system powered by a battery system. Propulsion is provided by two azimuth thrusters at the stern. Mooring and maneuvering in port are aided by two bow thrusters.

The contract for the Ro-Pax vessel’s construction was signed in November 2021..The vessel was officially handed over to operator Unity Line on December 17, 2025. Technical data of the ferry: Length: 195.6 m, Width: 32.2 m, Load line: 4100 m, Number of passengers: 400 people, Crew: 50 people, Operating speed: 19 knots. She has 9 decks, energy-efficient electric azipods,Safe Return to Port system, big touchscreens on the bridge, small joystick steering, passenger amenities including deluxe cabins. All done to the highest European standards of workmanship – informed Remontowa Shiprepair Yard.
The ceremonial christening of the Jantar Unity ferry on Chrobry Boulevard in Szczecin will take place on January 17, 2026 (Friday) at 3:00 p.m. A ferry christening is a rare and visually engaging event that blends maritime tradition with contemporary technology. Szczecin, with its rich port heritage, is once again opening its public spaces to events of this nature, welcoming both residents and tourists.
It is noteworthy that the current government has allocated PLN 1.3 billion for a new ferry construction program. The Jantar Unity is the first in a series of three units built at the Gdańsk Remontowa Shipyard. The twin Amber is already completed. The ferry is almost 200 meters long and 32 meters wide. It can carry 400 passengers and over 200 trucks. It is intended to be a real competitor to foreign carriers offering cruises to Świnoujście
