Osama Rabie: "We are ready to begin cooperation... and we seek to open new markets and expand into the African continent."

Ismailia: As a culmination of efforts to promote the Suez Canal Authority in Africa, Admiral Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority SCA  and Ms. Nanjiola Hamionela, Chairperson of the Namibian Ports Authority( Namport,) witnessed the signing ceremony of a MoU for cooperation in areas of mutual interest. The ceremony was attended byAdmiral Ashraf Atwa, Vice Chairman of SCA,  several members of the Authority's Board of Directors, and Engineer Abdel Hakim Abdel Nasser, at the Authority's headquarters in the Guidance Building in Ismailia Governorate.

The MoU aims to exchange expertise and enhance bilateral cooperation in several areas, most notably marine construction, the sale and leasing of marine units, and advanced maritime training through the Suez Canal Authority's maritime training and simulation academies.

Strengthening cooperation  with the African

Admiral Osama Rabie emphasized the Suez Canal Authority's readiness for fruitful and constructive cooperation with the Namibian Ports Authority, given the expansion of the Authority's international projects and its efforts to open new markets and Strengthening cooperation  with the African continent.

Rabie noted that the Suez Canal Authority's efforts succeeded in developing and reopening the Libyan port of Sirte after 14 years of closure, marking a successful first step in international projects with friendly and sister nations.

The Chairman directed that full support be provided and the necessary procedures facilitated to commence actual cooperation on various projects. He noted that the Authority possesses an integrated system for providing maritime and logistical services through its shipyards and affiliated companies.

The ambitious development plan for Namibia's ports

On the other hand Ms. Nanjiola Hamionela, Chairperson of the Namibian Ports Authority, expressed her eagerness to cooperate with the Suez Canal Authority in implementing the ambitious development plan for Namibia's ports, which are the largest in West Africa. She emphasized that this cooperation reflects the strength of relations between Egypt and Namibia and will contribute to strengthening bilateral ties.

She highlight  that the memorandum of understanding presents a valuable opportunity to explore cooperation opportunities across various fields, praising the Suez Canal Authority's diverse capabilities and expertise in marine manufacturing, construction, and training.

The advanced technology and extensive experience of SCA

The Chairperson of the Namibian Ports Authority noted that the advanced technology and extensive experience of the Suez Canal Authority in these diverse areas will contribute to enhancing and accelerating the desired development efforts in Namibian ports, eliminating the need to rely on foreign expertise and personnel and technology transfer from other continents.

The visit included

The MoU was signed by Eng. Nashaat Nasr El-Din, Director of the Movement Department, and Mr. Andreas Kanemi, CEO of the Namibian Ports Authority.

The visit included observing the berth of several different marine units produced by the Suez Canal Authority's shipyards and affiliated companies, as well as inspecting the floating pontoons and concrete buoys factory of the Canal Ports and Major Projects Company, and visiting the Authority's Maritime Training and Simulation Academy.
