According to rumours (currently unconfirmed) the Mega Express Five is leaving while the Stena Vision ship is arriving

The Corsica Ferries fleet is experiencing inbound and outbound movements. According to SHIPPING ITALY, the company controlled by Pierre Mattei (who is currently declining to comment), has just completed the sale of the RO-PAX vessel Mega Express Five to Dubai-based Tarco Marine, the same company that in previous years also acquired the Corsica Marina Seconda and Corsica Victoria ferries.

Mega Express Five

Mega Express Five, built by the Japanese shipyard Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in 1993, has a gross tonnage of 28,000 tons, a length of 177 meters, a beam of 25 meters, a cargo capacity of 1,400 linear meters in the garage, 276 cabins, 1,800 passengers, and a speed of 26 knots. In recent years, the ferry has been used consistently on routes connecting southern France with Corsica and Golfo Aranci in Sardinia.

Its place in the fleet appears to be taken by the Stena Vision  sailing under the flag of Cyprus which recently entered the Mediterranean from Northern Europe and is currently docked off Gibraltar. This ferry, previously owned by Stena Line, was built by the Polish shipyard Stocznia in 1987 and subsequently refitted in 1999 and 2010. It is 175 meters long, 30 meters wide, has a gross tonnage of 38,700 tons, a speed of 20 knots, and can accommodate 1,700 passengers and 570 cars. In the recent past, it operated on the Rosslare-Cherbourg route between France and Ireland.

Corsica Ferries,

Speaking of Corsica Ferries, it's also worth noting the recent news (resurfaced last September) that the shipping company is looking to the Far East to commission the construction of new ferries. Indeed, news had emerged from China that the company, following its pre-Covid announcements, was preparing to launch its investment program in new ro-pax shipbuilding with a tender for the related construction contract, having explored several Asian shipyards.

The project, dubbed "Bastia-max,

The technical specifications of the project, dubbed "Bastia-max," are: 180 meters in length (a dimension that guarantees flexibility and safe access to the port of Bastia) and the capacity to embark and transport 500 cars and 2,200 passengers with 500 cabins available.
