In 2025 the port of Civitavecchia has established its new cruise traffic record with 3,556,559 passengers and an increase of +2.8% over 2024 when it had been marked the previous historical peak. In particular, last year passengers in transit were 1,829,701 (+5.4%) and passengers at embarkation and disembarkation there were 1,726,858 (+0.2%). The number of stopovers of cruise ships rose to 862, with an increase by +2.5% compared to 841 airports in 2024.
Supporting this growth, explains the statement from the Port Authority of the Central-Northern Tyrrhenian Sea, is the completion of key works. The new Donato Bramante Terminal, inaugurated at the end of the year, represents a strategic asset designed to handle turnaround operations with an average of 4,000 passengers. Great attention was paid to sustainability in the construction of the building, which is designed as a "green terminal," featuring approximately 1,600 m² of photovoltaic panels for energy optimization. The impact of this single structure will be decisive starting next year, with an estimated over 800,000 passengers transiting in 2026 alone.

Alongside its large volumes, the port has diversified its offerings, focusing on high-end services with the launch of operations at Terminal 18, designed as a "boutique" terminal for smaller and more exclusive vessels, confirming Civitavecchia's role as a primary hub for the luxury segment as well.
On the technical front, the statement states, to ensure the safe operation of modern, increasingly larger cruise ships, work has been carried out on the quay, including the installation of nine new 300-ton bollards. The Lazio port has thus enjoyed a steady growth path, with the Roma Cruise Terminal handling a total of nearly 42 million passengers since 2007.

For 2026 - explained the president of the Port Authority, Raffaele Latrofa - we await further very important results, also taking into account that the completion of the works of the PNC (the National Plan Complementary to the PNRR), the opening of access to the south of the port, up to the new connection with the antemural and its extension, will radically change the face of the airport and the functionality of services and related mobility cruises, for which solutions are being studied that continue to support its growth, increasing the capacity of the airport to meet all requests for docking of the various companies, starting from 2027-28".![]()
