Marine Tech

Turkish partner An Italian-Turkish industrial alliance in maritime defense is born, with MAN propulsion and Hamilton Jet waterjets.

Naples – Beluda Shipbuilding, through its newly established defense division Beluda Defence, and VN Maritime Technologies have announced the official launch of a joint production program to supply 40 15-meter vessels to the General Directorate of Port Authorities – Coast Guard. The formalization of the agreement marks a significant milestone in the strategic cooperation between the two industrial groups, strengthening the Italian-Turkish partnership in the maritime defense sector.

The first tangible outcome of a long-term vision

The project was not conceived as a single contractual execution, but rather as the first tangible outcome of a long-term vision. Beluda Defence and VN Maritime Technologies will operate according to the principle of a "shipyard family": not as separate entities, but as a single, integrated system sharing supply chains, engineering expertise, and manufacturing capabilities. This approach ensures scalability and industrial flexibility, two essential elements for meeting the modern needs of coastal security, border surveillance, and rapid interception.

For technological excellence and strategic partners.

Designed to operate in complex conditions, these vessels are equipped with best-in-class propulsion solutions, the result of a careful selection of technical partners. The propulsion system will feature direct involvement from Ranieri Tonnesi, a long-standing partner in the supply and support of MAN engines, ensuring reliability and consistent performance. Maneuverability and operational responsiveness, crucial for search and rescue and patrol operations, will be guaranteed by Hamilton Jet waterjet propulsion technology, provided through a partnership with Vulcan Italia.

Joint Venture Management

The process was made possible thanks to intensive work in technical and commercial mediation, in which the management of the Beluda Shipyard played a key role. This order is the fruit of ongoing dialogue and deep technical convergence between our two companies, which originated and developed through discussions in international contexts such as the Sea Future exhibition," stated Roberto Spinna, Sales Director at the Beluda Shipyard.

Marco Cammarota, Head of Procurement at the Beluda Group, played a pivotal role in this process. His market research extended beyond the financial aspects, encompassing the evaluation and selection of the best after-sales service network specializing in our naval vessels. This strategic choice ensures continuous, high-level technical support for the 40 vessels allocated to the Coast Guard.

Industry Vision

The program is part of the Beluda Group's expansion plan, which, through its defense division, aims to make it a leading Mediterranean center for military and paramilitary shipbuilding.

"With the launch of this production, Beluda Defence demonstrates its ability to manage complex corporate orders, transforming our shipbuilding capabilities into a strategic asset for the country," says Donato De Palo, CEO of Beluda Shipbuilding. "We are not just building ships; we are investing in an industrial model that brings advanced skills and technologies to Italy, specifically to our production facilities. The partnership with VN Maritime enables us to accelerate the development of increasingly sophisticated platforms, including unmanned solutions, while maintaining our long-standing tradition of manufacturing quality that has distinguished us for over a century."

A European Perspective:

For the Turkish partner, the agreement represents a crucial bridge to the European market and Western law enforcement agencies."We see this project as the first step in an upward investment trajectory," commented Orkun Özik of VN Maritime Technologies. "By leveraging our engineering and design resources, we are building a manufacturing force capable of responding rapidly to new geopolitical challenges. Our platforms, whether manned or unmanned surface vessels, are designed to evolve in line with threats, and collaborating with Piloda is the ideal way to realize this vision for European naval forces."

The vessels are designed to operate in complex scenarios and integrate high-end propulsion solutions. Ranieri Tonissi is responsible for the propulsion system, supplying and servicing MAN engines, while maneuverability and operational response are entrusted to Hamilton Jet waterjets, supplied through a partnership with Vulkan Italia. This configuration is designed to ensure reliability, performance, and rapid response, especially in SAR and law enforcement missions.

The program is part of the Piloda Group's development plan, which, through its Defense division, aims to position itself as a leading hub in the Mediterranean for military and paramilitary shipbuilding. According to: With the launch of this production, Piloda Defence demonstrates its ability to manage complex institutional orders," explains Donato Di Palo, CEO of Piloda Shipyard, "transforming our shipbuilding capacity into a strategic asset for the country.

For VN Maritime Technologies, the agreement also represents a structured gateway to the European market and Western law enforcement agencies. "We see this project," says Orkun Özek, President of VN Maritime Technologies, "as the first step in a progressive investment journey. By leveraging our respective engineering and design resources, we are creating a manufacturing force capable of rapidly responding to new geopolitical challenges.

The order for the Italian Coast Guard thus becomes the testing ground for a shared industrial model, which aims to combine production capacity, technological integration and a European vision in the segment of naval units for maritime security.
