Lieutenant General Kamel El Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Transport,While attending the IMO 34th General Assembly in London ,on the sidelines of the IMO elections met with FONASBA President Fulvio Carlini. The meeting was attended by MP Mohamed Mouselhy, FONASBA Vice President for Africa; Eleonora Modde, FONASBA Director General; Mustafa Öztaşkın, YABA Award winner; along with members of the Egyptian delegation and representatives from the Alexandria Chamber of Shipping, in addition to FONASBA members from Egypt: Eng. Ahmed Al-Akkad, Eng. Karim Salama, and Ms. Randa Abdallah.
The high-level meeting focused on enhancing cooperation between Egypt and FONASBA and exploring policies that support sustainable development across the maritime transport sector. during the discussion, El Wazir emphasized Egypt’s ongoing efforts to modernize port infrastructure, advance logistics capabilities, and reinforce the strategic role of the Suez Canal in global trade, with President Fulvio Carlini adding his recognition of Egypt’s remarkable maritime progress and reaffirming FONASBA’s commitment to supporting its members in the country. MP Mohamed Mouselhy further confirmed the strong alignment between Egypt’s maritime development priorities and FONASBA’s mission, noting the importance of continued technical cooperation and knowledge-sharing to enhance sector competitiveness.
At the close of the meeting, FONASBA President Fulvio Carlini extended an honorary shield to H.E. Lieutenant General Kamel El Wazir in recognition of his significant contributions to the advancement of Egypt’s maritime and logistics landscape.

The Federation has consultative status at the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), United Nations Conference on Trade & Development (UNCTAD), and the World Customs Organisation (WCO). We also work closely with ship owning bodies, the International Chamber of Shipping, BIMCO, Intercargo, and Intertanko.
