The Dutch maritime salvage company MarineMasters has announced that it has successfully assisted the classification society Rina, the shipping company Augustea and the company Salvor in refloating and returning to sea the AMT Challenger, a 122 meter long barge with a gross tonnage of 19,129 tonnes which ran aground a few days ago on the French coast near Sotteville-sur-Mer, in the North Sea according to Shipping Italy
The maritime accident occurred during Storm Darragh
MarineMasters itself announced that the maritime accident occurred during Storm Darragh while the barge was sailing from Rotterdam to Portsmouth.

“Our team – it is written in a note – provided consultancy support during the operation, working closely with Salvor and Rina/Augustea on both technical and commercial aspects. Key activities included assistance in the preparations and execution of refloating, support in commercial and contractual discussions, liaison with insurance parties (H&M and P&I) and managing cost control.”
Authorization to enter the port of Le Havre
In addition to this, MarineMasters also communicated that it “also played a role in coordinating rescue activities with local port authorities, including authorization to enter the port of Le Havre and assistance in returning the barge to the owners.
