Francesc Grau i Comellas as GPH Regional Director of West Med and General Manager of Barcelona Cruise Port

Javier Rodriguez Sanchez already Global Ports Holding was incorporated into MSC Cruises as VP of Port Development based in the company’s headquarters in Ginebra.

Hasta ahora now occupied the port of “GM Barcelona Cruise Port and GPH West Med & Asia Region” based in Barcelona incorporated into GPH in the year 2017 to manage the cruise terminal of Global Ports in Barcelona, Barcelona Cruise Port

As Regional Director of Global Ports Holding, Javier will be responsible for supervising the management of all ports in the Western Mediterranean and Asia region of GPH, maintaining a strong relationship with the various port authorities and local interested parties. In addition, you have to deal with all new ports in the region, without abandoning the cargo of the Director General of Barcelona Cruise Port who is responsible for the management of the company and is empty in another port.

 Than five years of direct experience

Javier Rodríguez has more than five years of direct experience in the maritime transport and cruise industry, and he started his professional career in various multinational corporations like British Petroleum (BP), Maersk Line and lasted 7 years in Pullmantur Cruceros.

Joined as VP of Port Development, based in Ginebra and reporting to Gianluca Suprani, SVP of Global Port Development and shore activities, he was responsible for developing and supervising all developments of ports and destinations of the world for the group.

GlobalPorts has announced that Francesc Grau and Comellas will accept the cargo of Director Regional for the Western Mediterranean and Director General of the Puerto de Cruceros de Barcelona from July 25

Francisc's professional journey

Francesc has been a member of the Creuers del Port de Barcelona SA team since 1999, recently occupying the cargo ship of Director of Operations. With more than decades of experience supervising port operations, leading infrastructure improvements and supporting international growth initiatives, we have provided deep operational knowledge and demonstrated leadership. Francesc has contributed to the existence of the five terminals of cruceros de Barcelona and has supported the development of GPH in strategic markets, working in Malaga, Lisbon and Singapore, and continuing with the company's next projects.

On the other hand Global Ports Holding (GPH), the world’s largest cruise port operator, announces a leadership transition with the appointment of Francesc Grau i Comellas as GPH Regional Director of West Med and General Manager of Barcelona Cruise Port, effective 25 July 2025, following the departure of Javier Rodríguez Sánchez.
